Sammy Whiteside reached the big 50 milestone on Sunday 28th March
Sammy Whiteside made Club History when he turned out for the firsts in Div 1A against UUJ on 27th March, just 1 day short of his 50th birthday. Sammy lined up in a back four with two 18 year olds and put in his usual Man of the Match performance, to help Downshire in their relegation battle with a 5 to 3 victory. His experience worked wonders wth the young players and his fitness kept him going to the final whistle.
After the match the Club made a small presentation to Sammy and wished him all the best for the next 50 years. |
